After many years of living in cities, although I still love being in the city and the energy each city has, I craved space of my own to relax and be surrounded by nature. When we first moved into our home, the yard was overgrown and filled with junk piles, poison ivy and other hazards. We spent a lot of time creating gardens around the property - a vegetable garden, a rose garden, a cottage garden, a memorial garden for my Mom, a shade garden and more.

I love being surrounded by flowers and learning about gardening, botany, herbology, all things horticultural. I love how each flower has its unique habit and only has a fleeting time to shine during the height of its season. I wanted to try to capture that brief but stunning beauty, so I began drawing the flowers I grew. All of my botanical pieces are life drawings from specimens I grow in my garden.
